Each month I will bring you my "surprise" hike of the month, that is, a little known trail or an adventure I undertook that really inspired me. I kick off the "feature" with this unique day hike I found in Shenandoah National Park, in the southern section (PATC Map 11 - Shenandoah National Park South District) - a hike to Lewis Peak. In the video I mistakenly call it "Lewis Mountain" but it is indeed Lewis Peak, accessed from Browns Gap on the Skyline Drive, milepost 83. Take the the following trails - Appalachian Trail north, Big Run Loop Trail to the Rockytop Trail to Lewis Peak Trail. Then the side trail to the summit (follow the stone obelisks at each trail junction which give excellent trail directions). In the video I take you a long for the summit hike as well as pointing out some facts about hiking in this great national park. Enjoy.

WOW, THANKS FOR THE VICARIOUS HIKE. You used the adjective "superb" in the video; well, your making a video of this is indeed "superb"!!!! Thanks again...look forward to more. Also watched the video of your northbound AT hike finish....
