2011 Blissful Hiking Year in Review

Wow, what a year! From finishing the Appalachian Trail southbound to hiking the wilds of Shenandoah National Park to a hiking adventure in Yellowstone and Great Sand Dunes, to day hiking in Bermuda, this was a great year for hiking. As I ponder my many adventures, I always wonder what lies ahead in 2012. I can try to plan my way, but I sure don't know what will really happen. I do hope you will stay with me here on Blissful Hiking for the New Year as we journey trails together, seek out new places, review new gear and techniques, and await another great year of adventure and renewal in the beauty of this great earth. Here's to 2012!

A Year of Hiking in Pictures

My final steps in May, 2011 as I head into Harper's Ferry, WVA to finish the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia.

Hikes galore in Shenandoah National Park where I am seeking to hike every trail. My trips also included hiking the entire central section of the park in one day, 34 miles and seeing a good friend of mine from my 2007 AT hike.

Hiking out west - Great Sand Dunes in Colorado and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Are these visions of some western hike yet to come?

Day hiking in Bermuda along the coast

I begin my speaking venues in hiking by teaching workshops at the REI in Richmond, Virginia.
