Guest Blog: Hiking New England Locales

I hope to make a regular feature here on BLISSFUL HIKING of guest bloggers and their favorite hiking trails in and around our great nation.

Here is a trail by a guest blogger for those who live near metro Boston. Enjoy this bit of nature.

Hiking New England Locales

For all those Bostonians out there, hiking can be a great respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Take the kids out and go for a little climb or hike. Don’t let winter blues get you down, go to Blue Hills!

The Blue Hills Skyline trail is near Milton, MA and is just a short trip from the city.  Some highlights include: gorgeous views, nice terrain and most of all convenience to Boston, Eastern Massachusetts and all of Southern New England.  Since the trail the entire trail should only take you about 3 hours, this is great for day-trippers. The trail is quite well maintained, so is not too rough to navigate. And at 5.7 miles round-trip (loop), you will burn some extra calories, but you wont have holes in your shoes when you return.

This trail is great year-round, so get out there this weekend. Fresh air is always a great cure for the winter blues. And as an added bonus, hiking is a fun way to exercise, so don’t give up on those new years resolutions yet!

  1. The middlesex fells just north of Boston (and also mostly accessible via public transit) are fantastic as well. Very similar terrain with some really nice loop trails.
